2011 Conference and Career Fair student registration and interview application period has been extended to Monday, September 19 at 5 p.m. EDT
Registrants that attend the Conference and Career Fair not only have access to numerous internship, fellowship, and full-time employment opportunities, but also meet and network with more than 1,000 of their peers from some 200 law schools from around the nation. Below are tips for students on getting the most out of the Career Fair:
Tip One: Check job postings often!
Employers will continuously be posting new jobs opportunities through Wednesday, September 14 at 5 p.m. EDT. Also remember to apply through the JusticeWork! system, do not apply directly to the employer. Employers will review all the application from September 21 to October 3 and you will receive an email letting you know whether you were accepted for an interview or not. If you receive an invitation to interview, you must accept the invitation and schedule a timeslot to interview no later than Monday, October 10 or your interview slot will be forfeited.
Tip Two: Do your homework to increase your chances.
You will make a better impression with employers if you know what they do before your interview or table talk opportunity. For example, “I understand your organization litigates housing discrimination cases” makes a better impression than “Can you tell me what your organization does?”
Tip Three: Network, network and network.
Everyone you meet at the Fair may, at one time or another, become your colleague, mentor, supervisor and/or professional resource. This is a great opportunity to meet the key people in the public interest community.
