Alliance for Women Gift Card Collection Drive: Help the AFW's Domestic Violence Task Force & Advocacy Subcommittee to empower survivors of domestic violence receiving shelter at Connections for Abused Women and their Children (CAWC) this holiday season. Small-denomination gift cards for stores such as Target, Jewel, or CVS - for just $10, $20, or $25 - enable CAWC's clients to buy what they might not have taken when they fled a violent situation: clothes to wear to work, shampoo, or diapers for their children. Bring gift cards to the AFW holiday party on December 15 or mail or deliver to Angie Cruz, CBA, 321 S. Plymouth Court, Chicago, IL 60604. Gift cards will be accepted through January 31, 2012.

Please join the Alliance for the launch of our Mentoring Circles' Speakers Bureau on Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at 12:15 p.m., at Sidley Austin, One South Dearborn. The Hon. Susan E. Cox, U.S. Magistrate Judge, and her law clerk, Mary Curry, will moderate a conversation with several distinguished Speakers Bureau members who will share their knowledge and expertise from private practice, corporate counsel, and public service. The Speakers Bureau was created to complement the Mentoring Circles program by providing senior-level attorneys to discuss various issues with Circle members.
