The City of Chicago Department of Law invites law students to apply for its 2013 Summer Law Clerk Program. Usually, the program begins June 1st and is for a minimum of 10 weeks; however, the start date and duration of a law clerk’s summer will be determined by the law clerk and his/her direct supervisor. Illinois Foreclosure Fellowships

APPLICATIONS DUE OCTOBER 25, 2012: Are you interested in consumer, public interest, or elder law? Check out the Illinois Foreclosure Fellowships sponsored by Equal Justice Works, which are 3 year fellowships that will commence no later than December 1, 2012. The funds come from the recent $25 billion foreclosure settlement with the nation’s five largest banks.  Foreclosure Fellows will be placed with one of four host sites—Chicago Legal Clinic, Chicago Volunteer Legal Services, Lawyers’ Committee for Better Housing, and the University of Illinois College of Law and Community Preservation Clinic. Education Fellowships: Education Pioneers & Broad

Two new education-related fellowships have popped up recently: the Education Pioneers and Broad Residency.

The Education Pioneers posted their position to PSJD for both of their programs: a summer internship and a yearlong fellowship.  The description begins:

• Education Pioneers recruits and develops talented business, law, policy, and education graduate students with diverse professional backgrounds and helps them launch high-level education leadership careers through the Graduate School Fellowship. There are two placements for the Graduate School Fellowship - the 10-week summer placement and the yearlong placement.

The applications are due December 12, 2012.  More information is available at PSJD (you can create your own account and login) and on the Education Pioneers website.

The Broad Residency also provides the opportunity to work in high-level positions with school districts or charter management organizations.

Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) Deadlines Set! Programs Scheduled!

The Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) program Class of 2013 application period will open on Monday, November 5 and close on Monday, November 19, 2012, at 11:59pm Eastern Time.  The entire application process, including submission of all necessary documents, must be completed during this time period. Please note: Alumni that graduated in the 2 years preceding November 5, 2012 may also now apply (not just current graduates).

Applicants will have two ways to find the application.  At USAJOBS, simply search "Presidential Management Fellows,” or go to the PMF website and select the link found under the Application Process/How to Apply webpage.  You can find a PowerPoint presentation which outlines the latest changes to the PMF program on our Academia/Resources page.  Once the Class of 2013 PMF Application is finalized, information will be updated on our website.

Department of State is Now Accepting Applications for their Student Experience Intern Program
As a Student Experience intern, you may have the opportunity to:

*   Participate in meetings with senior level U.S. government or foreign government officials;
*   Draft, edit, or contribute to cables, reports, communications, talking points, or other materials used by policy makers in furthering U.S. foreign policy objectives;
*   Help organize and support events, including international and/or multi-lateral meetings and conferences on critical global issues;
*   Contribute to the management and administration of the Department of State and America’s foreign policy; and
*   Engage directly with U.S. or foreign audiences to promote U.S. foreign policy and improve understanding of U.S. culture and society.

Calling Animal Lovers!

The Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF) has some great opportunities available right now that may interest you.

First, ALDF hiring a Litigation Fellow (JD required within last three years) to begin immediately. This position will last roughly one year. The application deadline is October 15, 2012.

ALDF is also hiring Litigation Fellows to begin in fall 2013, which means current third-year students can apply. These positions will last roughly two years, and the deadline to apply is October 20, 2012.

Finally, the ALDF Advancement of Animal Law Scholarships will be awarded to to outstanding members of our Student Animal Legal Defense Fund (SALDF) chapters this fall. The application deadline is October 15, 2012. Active SALDF members who are committed to animal protection and the field of animal law are encouraged to apply.
