This week's Symplicity job updates: 19 new events and 127 new job postings have been listed on Symplicity. Jobs Currently Available: Multiple employers are still looking for current students to fill law clerk positions for THIS SUMMER. The Priority Registration Deadline is Wednesday, July 25 at NOON CST and BIDS are due Friday, July 27th at NOON CST, for On-Campus Interviews occurring from August 13th-August 31, 2012 (Sessions 1 and 2). Employers coming during later sessions have deadlines in August that are noted in The OCI Important Dates and Deadlines Document located on your Symplicity Homepage. Next Two Weeks in LCS- 6/22/12

As June comes to a close next week, we hope you are having a good summer!

Reminder: Stay on Track for your Professional Development this Summer: Law Career Services has created two Career Development "To Do" Lists (one for 2Ls & 3Ls and one for new grads) to help you stay on track with your professional development this summer. You can find them in Symplicity's Resources tab; search with keyword "summer" to find the "To Do" List appropriate for you.
Resume Review Period Has Opened: Law Career Services now requires resume review and approval by your advisor only once every academic year. You will need to upload an updated résumé for review to Symplicity to be granted full rights to uploading all your documents. If you are planning to participate in OCI, your OCI-specific résumé must be uploaded to Symplicity no later than July 13 to meet the résumé priority upload deadline. This guarantees that Law Career Services will be able to review and ultimately approve your résumé by the first OCI registration deadline.
Proper Document Upload: Please remember to carefully label your documents, especially résumés, as you upload them into Symplicity. For example, "Joe Student June 2012 Resume). Résumés need to be uploaded for review in Microsoft Word, not in any other format or as a pdf.
Summer Jobs Still Available: Multiple employers are still looking for current students to fill law clerk positions for THIS SUMMER. Available opportunities are listed within the Job Postings Tab in Symplicity. They include #15124, a personal injury firm looking for a 1L Clerk, and 16091 looking for a summer clerk.

LCS Hours: LCS has implemented its summer hours. Ten Minute Advising will not longer be scheduled until the Fall and our office will be open Monday-Thursday from 9:00am-5:00pm and Friday from 9:00am-3:00pm.

Next Two Weeks in LCS-5/25/2012

Happy early Memorial Day! We hope you have a wonderful summer kick-off weekend. Our office is open throughout the summer for visits, adivisng appointments, and other services. Please note that due to the Memorial Day Holiday, our office will not be open on Monday, May 28th.

Externships Still Available: Please Click Here for more information on summer externships available; however, students only have until June 5th to get registered for summer opportunities through the Field Placement Program, so it is starting to get down to the wire to gain credit and utilize these opportunities for great hands-on legal experience.

Class Year/Graduation Date Updates: As the semester comes to a close, many of you may be changing programs and/or your graduation dates. Please check your Symplicity profile to ensure your graduation date is correct and if not, please email your career advisor immediately. We do not receive any updates from Campus Connect. Please email any changes as soon as possible as we send out job opportunities and OCI information specific to class years.

REMINDER: 2012 CPIL/PILA Summer Public Service Stipend Applications DUE THIS MONDAY, MARCH 12th: Applications are being collected in Law Career Services until 5 pm on March 12, 2012. They are available in the Symplicity Document Library. Additional Public Interest Summer Funding Resources are available here.

Job Postings: LCS was contacted recently by multiple employers who have posted jobs in Symplicity but were not receiving applications from DePaul students as they had hoped. Please remember to check Symplicity often and apply early to the job postings (many employers begin their candidate screening process on a rolling basis, beofre deadlines close). Some Recent Jobs Include: FHMC Corp.'s #15890: an in-house position likely to lead to post-graduation employement (1Ls, 2Ls Deadline: March 15th);  #15897: Law Clerk for family law practicing solo practionior (1Ls Deadline: March 23rd); or Cassiday Schade's Fall 2012 Attorney Position for 3Ls, #15962 (Deadline March 21)

Proofreading and PDFs: Every time you have an updated resume loaded into Symplicity be sure to look over your pdf before you send it out. Sometimes the conversion from Word to pdf throws things out of whack: your formatting, your bullets, your margins, the number of pages. Checking this and proofreading helps ensure your resume is making the right statement about you with its substantive content, not its careless mistakes.
