The ABA's Labor & Employment Law Section Panel will highlight several knowledgeable members discussing their experiences and career opportunities in this field of law, and special dimensions of what has become one of the fastest growing areas of practice in the country. The ABA will provide lunch refreshments to all students who attend the program. For more information and to RSVP, check out the Symplicity events today.

The United States Senate's Office of Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper has requested that DePaul University College of Law nominate one law student for its Summer 2011 General Internship Program. The current Sergeant at Arms is DePaul Law Alumni Terry Gainer, who recently was recognized by the College of Law for his Service to the Profession. This position is 10-12 weeks and is paid (the budget is still being finalized) but is adminstrative in nature, and interns will be working in support functions of the United States Senate such as human resources, publicity and marketing, customer relations, facilitites, and information security. If selected for the internship by the Office of the Senate at Arms, this internship will provide you the opportunity to network broadly within the Senate and Washington, DC, an unique behind-the-scenes view of the inner workings of the Senate, and the opportunity to spend the summer in our nation's capitol. If you wish to be considered for nomination for this position, please email your resume, unofficial transcript, and cover letter to Associate Director Alisa M. Rosales at arosale3 [at} depau.edu by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15th. The nominee will be selected that week and will be required to fill out a full application that includes all employment history by Tuesday, March 29, 2011. PLEASE NOTE: nomination by our office for this internship is not a guarantee of an offer for the internship.

LinkedIn Tips: Whenever you update your resume, don't forget to update all of your online profiles, including LinkedIn.  Take the time to check any links in those profiles to make sure they aren't broken or otherwise dead (for example, including a link to your locked/private twitter account should not be on your LinkedIn profile). Need more guidance? Check out the LinkedIn Professionalism programs on Tuesday, March 15 at Noon and 5 p.m. After a quick half hour, you'll also be eligible to be invited to join the College of Law Alumni group on LinkedIn. RSVP in Symplicity today!  Advanced LinkedIn Users that have already attended this program are welcome to come work on their LinkedIn profiles during LinkedIn Learning Labs. RSVP in Symplicity for the next one on March 17th at 4:30 p.m. (seats are limited).
