Illinois Foreclosure Fellowships

APPLICATIONS DUE OCTOBER 25, 2012: Are you interested in consumer, public interest, or elder law? Check out the Illinois Foreclosure Fellowships sponsored by Equal Justice Works, which are 3 year fellowships that will commence no later than December 1, 2012. The funds come from the recent $25 billion foreclosure settlement with the nation’s five largest banks.  Foreclosure Fellows will be placed with one of four host sites—Chicago Legal Clinic, Chicago Volunteer Legal Services, Lawyers’ Committee for Better Housing, and the University of Illinois College of Law and Community Preservation Clinic. Education Fellowships: Education Pioneers & Broad

Two new education-related fellowships have popped up recently: the Education Pioneers and Broad Residency.

The Education Pioneers posted their position to PSJD for both of their programs: a summer internship and a yearlong fellowship.  The description begins:

  • Education Pioneers recruits and develops talented business, law, policy, and education graduate students with diverse professional backgrounds and helps them launch high-level education leadership careers through the Graduate School Fellowship. There are two placements for the Graduate School Fellowship - the 10-week summer placement and the yearlong placement.

The applications are due December 12, 2012.  More information is available at PSJD (you can create your own account and login) and on the Education Pioneers website.

The Broad Residency also provides the opportunity to work in high-level positions with school districts or charter management organizations. 

CBA Volunteer Opportunities

Adopt-a-Beach-October 4
Join the YLS Environmental Law Committee, in association with the Alliance for the Great Lakes, and participate in an Adopt-a-Beach clean-up event on October 4, 6:00-7:00 p.m., at Oak Street Beach, 1000 N. Lake Shore Drive. Volunteers will work in groups of three to collect, sort, and classify the items found on the beach using Adopt-a-Beach worksheets. Volunteers will also remove litter and
