Next Week in LCS

We hope you are enjoying your summer.  Drop us a line as you continue to network, build skills, and consider next steps for your career and professional development.  We're here to help and happy to handle phone appointments over your busy summer!
Class Rollover Update. Another school year has been completed, and we've updated your class years in Symplicity.  Please verify the information in your Symplicity profile.  If your graduation date or class year has changed, please email your career advisor so she can update your profile.

Did you know that you can search all the jobs in the Symplicity database, not just those tied to your class year? Just click the Advanced Search tab to search for positions by other criteria, which you can also save as a Search Agent, just like on many other job boards.  This is particularly important during transition times such as late spring and summer when some employers post jobs based on last year's class year, rather than your "rising" class year status.

The Professionalism Agreement has gone live and is required to be accepted to continue to use Symplicity and our offices' services.  The Agreement will require your Acknowldegment the next time you sign into Symplicity. Please read the Agreement carefully, which requires your acknowledgment by including your initials and then your full name at the end.  We will not accept the Agreement unless it is completed fully and correctly.
FERP Update! **New EARLIER Deadlines** As noted in last week's email, major changes to the FERP process are detailed in the FERP Announcements in Symplicity, but here is a highlight of the upcoming changes:
  • All of the registration and bidding procedures can now be completed online. This eliminates the need to fax or bring in materials to our office.
  • We are now able to accommodate employers that are requesting to interview students on campus during August. PLEASE NOTE: Some of these employers will be interviewing before classes begin so if you submit your materials through FERP, you must be available to interview on campus on their selected dates. If you are unavailable, the same process of submitting your materials directly to employers as explained in FERP Orientation still applies.
  • The Registration process is now separate from the Bidding process, and each has its own deadline. You will not be able to bid on employers until you have successfully completed the Registration process.
  • The Priority Registration date is now Wednesday, July 27, 2011.
  • The first bidding deadline will now be Friday, July 29, 2011 at Noon (local to DePaul).
  • Many of the other procedures and deadlines, such as having your resume approved, attending FERP Orientation (or watching the video and completing the quiz), remain the same, and more information about those and any other requirements are included in the FERP Announcements in Symplicity.
