Next Week In LCS - 8/26/2011

Welcome back! Next Week in LCS will now begin to publish weekly again with the beginning of the semester.


Would you like to begin the year with an easy way to make an impact? By committing to one hour monthly, you can help shape LCS programming by becoming an LCS Ambassador! We're looking for positive and proactive law students to provide us with feedback from the student body as well as supplement the work of the SBA Career Services Liaison. Additional details and applications can be found in the Symplicity Document Library and are due on Tuesday, September 2, 2011.

The Cook County State's Attorney's Office (CCSAO) selects to conduct interviews on a limited number of campuses for its permanent postgraduate positions, and DePaul is one of  the few. Per their policy, if you are interested in pursing their postgraduate positions you are REQUIRED to participate in our on-campus process, the Fall Employer Recruitment Program (FERP). If you wish to pursue this opportunity, you must complete ALL the steps necessary to register and bid by NOON on Wednesday, August 31.  Please see the Symplicity Announcements for more details on those requirements.


FERP Update! The major changes to the FERP process are detailed in the FERP Announcements in Symplicity, with the FAQ document supplementing process information and the FERP Orientation Video.Though the bidding for Phases I & II have passed, you can still register for and bid for employers coming on campus in Phases III & IV.  Those deadlines are:
  • Wednesday, August 31: Registration AND Bids due at NOON (local to DePaul) for Phase IV (This is and all subsequent phases will combine the registration and bid deadlines.)
  • If subsequent Phases are needed, we will inform everyone who has registered for FERP directly, as well as post that information to the Symplicity Announcements, the blog, twitter, and this newsletter.
Resume Collect Deadlines! Many employers have requested materials through Resume Collects, which are posted under the Job Postings in Symplicity.  As a reminder from the email you received earlier this week, there are 11 employers that have deadlines next week plus Kirkland & Ellis is due tonight.

Official Transcript Request Reminder: Give yourself a week's lead time when requesting official transcripts from DePaul University.  Student Records needs time to process your request and send those out to you in the mail.


Ten Minute Advising is Back! If you have a question that can be answered quickly, stop by late afternoons during the semester to meet with an advisor.  Drop-in from 3:00-5:30 p.m. on most Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays with any questions that can be answered quickly.  For exact dates and times each week, please check the Symplicity calendar.
